We are hiring: Kaiwhakahaere/Executive Officer

An opportunity for a leader to take the reins of a unique Nelson Tasman foundation

The Fifeshire Foundation is a charitable trust that helps Nelson Tasman residents in domestic crisis or hardship with financial assistance. For our 28-year history we have been led by volunteer trustees and a part-time contracted manager.

The need in our community is growing and Fifeshire Foundation is evolving to meet that need. Following strategic work undertaken in the last 12 months, Fifeshire Foundation has a plan for its future and needs a partner to make it happen. We are seeking an experienced, professional leader to be Fifeshire Foundation’s first Kaiwhakahaere/Executive Officer. This take-charge person will build on years of community success and a strong reputation to take our organisation to the next level. You will walk alongside a board of Trustees to fulfill the purpose of the Fifeshire Foundation. Your principal objectives will be to:

  • Provide leadership, general management, and accountability for all programmes and services.

  • Implement a strategic plan for growth in fundraising.

  • Develop cultural networks and relationships with relevant community providers and organisations that directly contribute to the betterment of child and family poverty in our region.

  • Develop a dynamic, customer-driven grants process that meets the needs of those we serve.

  • Oversee and develop stakeholder relationships, including with new and existing donors.

  • Plan and deliver communications strategies.

  • Advocate for child and family poverty in our region.

  • Ensure high quality delivery of services, policies, and strategies.

  • Partner with an active Board of Trustees to continue developing strong governance policies and processes.

Initially the role will be 20 hours per week and grow as funding and progress allows. You will oversee one part-time staff member who is responsible for day-to-day delivery of the grant programme. Operations are split between an office in Nelson and a working-from-home structure. Travel throughout the Nelson Tasman districts is expected and reimbursed.

Trustees have made a strong start at preparing the framework of our future. We are a work in progress and the future is bright.
