The Big Give annual fundraising event, Supported by Mediaworks since 2012, and run in conjunction Milestone Homes Make a difference appeal since 2016.

The event runs each year in the months leading up to Christmas, which can be a very challenging time for many vulnerable families. Many families facing hardship struggle with the pressures of Christmas, they dread the expectations put on them, and this can often lead to undue stress and poor mental health.

The aim of the event is to provide relief for families in extreme hardship and poverty by giving Christmas to local family/whanau in need (including food parcels, toys & gifts, a $50 countdown voucher and a few sweet treats).

Contributing to Fifeshire Foundation’s purpose, the relief of hardship and /or domestic crisis for those people in need in the Nelson / Tasman region.

This year’s Big Give 2020 event raised almost $50 000.00 helping over 500 families in need, local generosity reaching over 1200 children living below the breadline.  It was a huge year this year, so many families in hardship needing additional support, not just the unemployed but the working poor, who are really struggling. This year we issued out over $25 000.00 in food vouchers, and in addition to this, thousands of dollars in other gift and activity vouchers and in donated gifts to help make the festive season just that little bit better for these families in need in our community.
